Momfidence, by Paula Spencer
Paula touches on every aspect of mothering in this witty book. She recounts her joys, pains and revelations, including the current cultural trend to child-proof all but the kitchen sink and to prevent all injury (and in some cases – all fun!). She explores our tendency to search for professional help, when listening to our own instincts – and being “momfident” – is really, most often, more than enough. Her tales of suburban motherhood, including being a soccer mom, needing to be politically correct, and yelling as the “dirty little secret of parenting” will make you laugh, almost too hysterically.
Paula backs up all references to literature, having conducted many an interview with a variety of experts: parenting, child rearing, and so on, in her role as a freelance writer and author.
For those of you who work at home, Paula’s descriptions of her attempts to work in her home office which is adjacent to her kitchen are all too familiar – and funny when looking from the outside in.
